Position title: ETL Developer
Work Location : Sun Prairie, WI
Duration : Full Time/ Contract
Job Summary
The successful candidates for this position will be responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, and maintaining highly complex Extract, Transformation and Load (ETL) processes utilizing IBM's DataStage toolset in the support of data warehouses, data marts and operational data stores. This position will be involved in determining appropriate design for ETL applications and gathering information to determine data sources, data targets, data definitions, data relationships and business rules.
Responsibilities include: Participating in high-level and detailed analysis and design efforts focusing on extract, transformation, and loading of data; assisting the data modeler/data warehouse developer in reviewing staging, data warehouse and data mart models for completeness and the ability to load; responsible for documenting ETL maps, batches, and processes; recommending continuous improvement efforts as ETL best practices and standards to the development of the enterprise data warehouse; understanding of SQL language to a level of being able to optimize data loading/cleansing routines.

Policy, Process, and Procedures:
*Assist in the design, development, and implementation of data processes and deliver artifacts to support the data life cycle (DLC)
o Coordinate the implementation of the models/programs/BI solutions developed in accordance with the change and release management policies to ensure delivery of Strategy & Technology (S&T) portfolio
o Identify opportunities for improvements in the DLC to assure best possible service is provided to business partners Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus
*Produce technical data specifications, designs, and documentation that facilitate delivery according to service level agreements (SLAs) and implementation criteria
o Undertake timely resolution of defects and data process impact to maintain and improve service to business partners
o Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with peers, management, and business
partners to support and inform decision making and advise on progress
o Take ownership for assigned problem resolution to minimize handoffs and see business partner problems through to full resolution
o Openly and accurately communicate incident details
o Develop data solutions with a focus on improved and /or efficient supportability to add value to the business
*Maintain currency in best practice in area of expertise, whether data modeling, ETL, or BI, to keep up to date with current and future technologies Technical Performance
*Design and develop data solutions such as data models, or Extract, Transformation, Load (ETL) programs, or Business Intelligence (BI) components throughout the full data life cycle (DLC),
making maximum use of data development tools/environments, coding standards, principles, and guidelines to meet business requirements
o Design and execute unit and system test cases that assure the quality of the component and programs to be developed
o React to and resolve production incidents in a manner that minimizes the outage or process impact and prevents reoccurrence
o Provide accurate estimates for data development activities that maximize effectiveness of tools, methods, and development environments
o Support the operational uses of the models/programs/BI solutions including the maintenance of these to meet changing business requirements
Required Education &/or Experience:
The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities normally required for competent performance in the job.
Education Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field or comparable experience and continuing education related to the job.
Experience Required
*Three to five years of relational database development, implementation and support experience.
*Two to three years of experience using ETL (DataStage) commercial software.
*Two to three years of data warehousing experience including one or more year of experience. with SQL based business intelligence and reporting tools (Cognos).
*Proficiency with ETL (DataStage) commercial software within data warehousing.
Skills and Knowledge
*Excellent technical and technical documentation skills
*Ability to effectively communicate at all levels
*Analysis and evaluation skills
*Problem solving skills
*Working knowledge of relational DBMS (SQL, Oracle, DB2)
*Demonstrated knowledge of data management techniques such as source to target mapping, ADS/ODS differences, datamarts, metadata management, and master data management
*Demonstrated ability to assess, select, and use standard data development tools and environments, such as data modeling (Power Designer), ETL (DataStage, QualityStage), and BI(Cognos)
*Demonstrated ability to develop within complex data development environments and across multiple platforms
*Ability to identify key areas of risk and complexity
*Ability to prioritize work to achieve deadlines
*Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business need
*Ability to analyze specifications and business requirements to develop accurate and repeatable data test beds
*Accuracy and attention to detail
*Adaptable to change
*Open learning style (shares problem resolution approaches and lessons learned)
Preferred Qualifications
*Certification in related area of expertise
*Knowledge of the property and casualty insurance business
