Job role: Mainframe Developer
Location: Des Moines IA
Duration: 6+ Months
****State client experience candidate is preferred first*****
Required Skills:
Demonstrated through prior experience the ability to:
•Trace and document data flows by reading & analyzing JCL, COBOL programs, CICS definitions, IBM and 3rd party utility control cards, Easytrieve, SPSS-Mainframe, IDCAMS, SYNCSORT and other common mainframe data manipulation processes.
•Extracting and documenting Business Rules embedded in COBOL (CICS and Batch) programs, third party utilities, and other data manipulation products. This includes both business and functional aspects of the business rules.
•Understanding, analyzing and documenting current SPSS report generation process such that they can be rewritten either within the Mainframe-VSAM environment or use data warehouse – SQL technology to replace current reports. There may be need to refer to SPSS reference guide to accurately analyze current report processes.
•Must complete assigned task; communicate accurate and useful status updates; follow quality standards; Ability to work in a team environment; strong communication skills; both written and spoken.
Must have:
Trace and document data flows by reading & analyzing JCL
Trace and document data flows by reading & analyzing COBOL
Trace and document data flows by reading and analyzing CICS definitions
Trace and document data flows by reading and analyzing IBM and 3rd party utility control cards, Easytrieve/Dyl280/Culprit type programs
Extracting and documenting Business Rules embedded in third party utilities, and other data manipulation products; in both business and functional
Create a document describing the data transformation for every data element over a specific period of time (daily, weekly, monthly).
Defining and documenting existing Business Processes
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio. etc.
Perform Mainframe programming with COBOL, VSAM, Panvalet, MVS JCL and PROCs.
Demonstrated ability to effectively use third party tools and system utilities.
Build solutions that cross multiple compute platforms (Mainframe CICS/Batch jobs and MS Windows servers) using batch processing techniques.
Implement data models as needed using VSAM datasets.
Trace and document data flows by reading SPSS-Mainframe code
IDMS development skills a plus
Previous experience with scheduling software
Build Consumer and provider web services on the mainframe.
Demonstrated understanding of the client server environment, relational data modeling with SQL, code development/testing on the Windows .NET platform
Public sector experience as a technical leader or within a program area
Experience working in Agile and Waterfall project methodologies.
