Role: Database Engineer
Duration: 12 month contract – extensions up to 2 years
Location: Seattle, WA
Interview process: Phone/Skype
Must Haves:
- Strong SQL Development - Writing SQL Code, SQL Logic, Advanced SQL
- Experience in a Unix Environment
- Experience with Shell Scripting
- Experience with Teradata/Hadoop/Oracle/SQL Server
- Experience with Teradata Utilities (BTEQ, FastLoad, MLoad)
- Strong communication both verbally and written
Plusses:
- Experience with Java coding
- Experience working within a Hadoop Environment
Description:
We are looking for a strong SQL developer that is well versed in the end to end development process. In this role you will be working closely with the data architecture team to gather documentation on source to target maps. You will then be tasked for analyzing these documents, understanding the data structures and the best procedures to Extract, transform, and load this data into Teradata Core. The extraction will pass through a Hadoop Data lake, then load into a Teradata staging area, where it will be transformed to the Teradata core. You will then be responsible for creating and running unit tests on the database. Then will be tasked to run QAT and UAT tests in both pre and post production. This role requires advanced experience with writing SQL code and complex queries as well as a firm understanding of SQL logic. They operate within a Unix environment so experience with in Unix as well as Shell scripting is a must. Experience writing BTEQ scripts, as well as a strong understanding of both FastLoad and Mload. Experience within SQL server is something that would benefit greatly in this role.
