Apply Patches & Hot fix
Usage of System catalogs on Query Analyzer
Space management including File groups
Managing Transaction log files
Knowledge on Sybase DB is added advantage.
Backup and recovery methods using Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzer.
Logical backup and recovery using export/import from one instance to another.
Knowledge of SQL Server 2000 Administration.
Disaster Recovery Plan implementation including Backups & Restoration
Performance monitoring (SQL profiler, Performance dashboard, PerfMon etc.)
Database fragmentation & compression
High Availability of Database like: Mirroring (Build, Roll, maintenance & troubleshooting)
Replication (Transactional, Peer to Peer & Merge) Clustering.
Trouble shooting database issues
Basic SQL and T/SQL knowledge
Working knowledge of Windows (Windows 2000, Windows 2003)
Working Knowledge of SQL Server Cluster.
SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
Proactively monitor database performance, analyze performance indicators, recommend and implement improvement actions.
Works closely with application developers, vendors, System Administrators and auditors to ensure best practices for the physical database design, integrity, and performance.
Troubleshoots and resolves database, application and development related problems.
Test and deploy staging and production database changes, support application testing activities, and refresh databases as needed.
Experience of working in an Operational environment alongside other technical and operational teams, ensuring that all parties collaborate effectively to deliver services.
Use of ITIL service management framework to deliver best practice capabilities for TNT.
Proven ability to deliver improvements that deliver greater value to the customer and business through more efficient delivery and/or lower costs.
Must have Good communication skills speaking and writing in English
Relevant Certification is desired
