Position: Data Integration SAS Developer
Location: Washington, DC
Duration: Minimum 6 months
Developer III Specialized performs high complexity (i.e. system level applications) analysis, design, development and unit testing of software applications from user requirements and design documents. The candidate also resolves defects encountered during various testing cycles.
• 6+yrs of development lifecycle experience in SAS application development
• Expert in SQL and SAS for querying databases and transforming data, for downstream applications, as per business needs
• Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of interpreting business requirements
• The analyst must be capable of sourcing and compiling data from multiple data sources, such as Oracle, SAS datasets and Excel spreadsheets and automate the data staging process.
• The candidate will need to draw conclusions from the data and communicate findings to stakeholders. As such, the candidate is expected to understand the business domain over time and move beyond simple querying of data.
• The candidate is required to document the logic, business decisions and approach taken to fulfill various data analyses.
• Assist in the design of ETL like process and perform data mapping, calculations as per requirements
• Experience working in SAS Grid environment
• Hands on experience running SAS scripts in Linux/UNIX environments
• Knowledge of shell scripts
• Experience with system testing and validation of data and logic.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of SDLC, within fast paced development cycles
• Positive attitude towards problem solving
Group dynamic: Busy analysis group with multiple focuses, very data centric. Working on ETL and staging data for an application. Team is a mix of contractors/FTEs. Individuals run with multiple projects at any given time.
What is appealing about this position to a contractor: Can develop into a SME in the area and perform advanced and intellectually stimulating analysis. Opportunities to add significant value to the business process through report automation. Opportunity to use Tableau and Spotfire for reporting.
