Position: Solaris Administrator

Location: Raleigh NC

Duration: 06 months

 

Primary Responsibilities includes:

 

The primary role of this position will be implementation, support, and administration for all of the Solaris Beacon servers hosted by ITS and will also serve as 2nd/3rd level support for system administration functions across all systems but with an emphasis on the "Beacon" (SAP-ERP) systems consolidated systems at the two primary ITS datacenters.

• Administer and support Solaris virtual and clustered systems installed at ITS and client locations
• Create and maintain technical documentation and procedures for System Administration support
• Manage and ensure availability and performance of ITS systems
• Work with the ITS team to evaluate Solaris software and hardware to determine the best solutions to meet specialized application hosting requirements
• Support SAN allocation to Solaris and AIX servers, and inter-connectivity of Solaris, AIX, Linux, Windows and mainframe systems

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Possess detailed knowledge of UNIX architecture within an enterprise network
• Skilled in server setup, installation, maintenance, backup and restore, performance monitoring, and problem resolution in an enterprise environment
• Skilled with Solaris Cluster HA virtual environments
• Ability to coordinate resolution of unplanned system outages and interruptions

Must have Experience as follows:
• Designing & Installation of various SAP System Landscape
• SAP Application, Server, and DB Migration
• Working in a Cluster environment
• Managing Production SAP landscapes
• Multi system Environment (Solaris, AIX Windows, Linux, OS390)
• Perform OS version upgrades
• Solaris live upgrade

Preferred:
• Minimum of five (5) years Solaris experience with (2) two years experience in SAP
• Experience with BRToolset (BRBackup, BRRestore)
• Experience in DR
• Experience with Solaris Logical Volume Manager, Oracle DB, Netbackup, Split Mirror Backup on Hitachi
