Position: Network Engineer
Duration: 6 months
Location: Columbus, OH
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Candidate must be a self-motivated individual that is dedicated to exceeding client expectations, be willing to contribute to team efforts, and possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills, in addition to possessing the following technical skills:
- Detailed understanding of TCP/IP concepts and protocols such as DHCP, DNS,
TFTP, NTP, LDAP and others.
- Strong understanding of IP networking, LAN/WAN switching/routing technologies and protocols.
- In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN QoS using various queuing techniques such as PQ, LLQ, CBWFQ, and RSVP.
- Extensive experience in planning, designing, implementing and troubleshooting complex Cisco UC solutions and technologies for enterprise level customers.
- Strong understanding of telephony dial plan design, implementation, and call control/routing protocols such as H.323, MGCP, SIP, SCCP, Q.SIG, CAS, ISDN PRI, FXO, FXS, and POTS.
- Experience in designing, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting two
(2) or more of the following Cisco UC applications such as CUCM, Unity/Unity Connection, CUCME, SRST, UCCX, CER, CUP, and others.
- Strong knowledge and experience in designing, deploying, and troubleshooting Digital/Analog voice gateways, media resources such as conferencing, transcoding, MTP, and MoH, and voice endpoints such as IP phones, and CIPC (softphones).
- Experience with MCS series hardware as well as UCS B/C series platforms.
- Strong knowledge with VMware technologies such as vCenter, vSphere EXSi, and vSphere client.
- Experience in planning, designing, deploying, and troubleshooting complex Cisco TelePresence/Tandberg video conferencing technologies and solutions for enterprise level customers is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of legacy PBX such as NEC, Avaya, Nortel, and others.
- Strong understanding around video, and other collaboration tools, Webex, Webex Connect
- Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange server is a plus.
- Build simulated UC networks in test labs to validate UC designs and/or to troubleshoot/resolve highly complex voice problems and compatibility issues.
- Plan and execute large-scale UC upgrade and migration activities.
- Support pre-sales activities related to UC and Video technologies and solutions.
- Develop technical whitepapers and best practices for new UC and video technologies supported by Cisco Advanced Services.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to conduct formal/informal UC knowledge transfer to both internal and external customers.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills are required.
- Experience in project management, ability to clearly communicate UC planning and technology issues verbally on both a formal and informal basis to all levels of client staff or for network industry events/seminars, and possess experience in team leadership/mentoring.
This Engineer position requires CCIE (or equivalent) with extensive knowledge/experience in UC, Video, and strong knowledge in core Routing & Switching.
Typically requires , or University degree equivalent plus 6-8 years experience in UC and network engineering or telecommunications support environment. Advanced degree strongly preferred.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Certifications: CCIE (Voice preferred), CCVP, CISSP, Tandberg, and VCPSystem-administrator level knowledge of multiple UNIX variants.
System-administrator level knowledge of Microsoft Windows Active Directory and Exchange.
