Rate:-$35/hr on C2C max
Direct client .
Purpose:
Augment Network Data operations support staff in support of over 60 remote sites nationwide, plus local data center and Portland campus network support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the implementation of new network technologies into current operating environment. Test and evaluate future looking technologies by participating in beta tests of given technologies
Define and follow standards and best practices for network design, testing, and implementation methodology. Document the environment.
Configure, deploy, fine-tune, monitor, maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, support and repair the global network as required
Help to develop KPI metrics and managed service definitions
Develop and support the delivery of web reports for network stakeholders that display network status
Deliverables:
Provide support via DTNA's CISM ticketing application adhering to published SLA's
Troubleshoot remote site network service disruptions and wireless coverage issues
Define standards and best practices for network design, testing, and implementation methodology
Help to define, document and implement strategy, direction and architectures for the DTNA network environment
Develop and document department processes for all areas of network support, including configuration management, backups, archives, restoring configurations following device failures
Implement the reporting environment and the web based network status reports using OpNet Net1 Net Mapper and web report server
Develop network KPIs to measure – Configuration consistency, SLA per IP, Management Plane Security, Control Plane Security, and Data Plane Security
Develop services and metrics for DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) and DNS (Domain Name System) and QIP. Other services may include NTP (Network Time Protocol), billing or flow accounting applications, and AAA (Authentication, Authorization and Accounting)
Assure all network devices are properly redundant, backed up, and documented with redundant service capabilities
Support network tools and make certain servers used for the tools are redundant, backed up, and properly hardened
Develop best practice process documentation for security and device access protocols, access list filtering, system hardening
Develop best practice process documentation for configuration management within the context of Opnet Net1 tools
Demonstrates the following skills and behaviors:
Facilitate meetings and document outcome
Develop and perform formal presentations when required
Understand IT processes and work within designated guidelines
Provide customer service in an advisory role
Professionalism and strong communication skills are essential
Must be comfortable working under the pressure of delivering quality results with schedule deadlines and must have a proven track record in meeting schedule for tasks while still meeting or exceeding business requirements and goals
Must be able to work independently as well as with others on work tasks and must demonstrate initiative and ability to self-manage time and work with minimal direction
Willing to carry on-call phone and respond quickly
Willing to work during cutovers over weekends if necessary
Willing to travel to sites in US, Canada and Mexico as needed
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Looks for ways to provide enhancements to existing network services. Make recommendations, define the ROI, and implement these improvements using an accepted change control methodology process
Extensive and broad functional experience with switching, routing, firewall, VPN, wireless, content networking, and network management systems across a wide range of complex architectures, platforms and mediums
Experience with Cisco enterprise network solutions and ability to learn other network technologies. Additional knowledge of HP networks preferred
Experience with OpNet Net1 and Manage Engine software tools
Experience analyzing customer needs
Clearly communicates issues, recommendations and incident summaries
Experience with network testing and trouble shooting
Experience with network administration, including DNS and DHCP. QIP experience preferred
Experience with the documentation and communication of designs, risks, and project issues
Experience in testing network systems and publishing test results
Experience supporting and maintain firewalls and other network security systems
At least 5-15 years of network administration experience, OR equivalent job experience
Nice to have – Bachelor's degree or higher
