Title: Java Developer / Software Developer (Middle and Backend Tier)
Location: Toronto, ON
Duration: 12+ months
Ontario Telemedicine Network requires the services of a three (3) Resources for User Experience & HTML Developer in order to assist with its upcoming portal release.
Title: Java Enterprise Edition Software Developer (Middle and Backend Tier)
Reports To: Manager of Software Application Development
Responsibilities:
(This is not an exhaustive list additional duties and responsibilities maybe
added from time to time depending on OTN's requirements)
· Code front end Java EE solutions using HTML, AJAX and CSS
· Developing with XML, and its acronyms, RESTful and SOAP-based web services, doing complex
database queries in Oracle.
· Develop high quality software using industry standard software development best practices
· Use OOAD and Design Pattern methodologies to develop robustly designed software systems
· Create Unit tests to ensure that the code works according to the developer's design
· Review Test Scripts and Test cases to ensure that the design is properly tested.
· Develop and document the conceptual, logical, physical, network, and data architectures of OTN
applications
· Ensure that requirements are directly related to a user need and the architecture is directly
related to a current requirements while allowing for future evolution of business needs
· Support, monitor and extend the architecture of software applications that coordinate clinical and
educational videoconferencing in Ontario.
· Provide senior technical expertise and guidance to the enterprise
· Oversee architecture, design, and implementation aspects of web applications, including
streaming sites.
· Review comprehensive technical documentation of applications.
· Contribute to the documentation of technical requirements and specifications for large-scale
software development activities.
· Assist various divisions in designing and implementing IT solutions that streamline work and
provide enhanced service to stakeholders.
· Architect streaming-enabled web applications for medical education and administrative purposes.
· Participate in projects and represent OTN in stakeholder meetings.
· Maintain an up-to-date understanding of current telemedicine technology and its limitations.
· Perform work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and
Regulations and all other corporate/departmental policies and procedures.
· Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualification:
· JSP and HTML experience
· Web Services (SOAP / REST / JSON, etc.) experience
· Knowledge of Spring and STRUTS an asset
· 8-10 years of progressive experience in a variety of software applications, maintenance and the
design, development and integration of internet applications.
· Advanced working knowledge of software packages, operating systems, relational database
design and operation, query tools, reporting tools, decision support tools and remote access
technologies.
· Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may
substitute for stipulated academic/experience requirements.
Good To Have:
· AJAX (JSON) scripting using jQuery
· HTML templating solutions
· Strong, clean visual design sense and commitment to developing usable web interfaces
· Mobile web programming skills and experience
· Health-care HL7 standards
