Location: Dallas TX
Duration: 6+ Months
Job Description:
· Work as part of Distributed Backup Team to maintain backup system infrastructure, improve backup system performance, and develop new enhancements and services for the Netbackup Infrastructure.
· Monitor and maintain all backup infrastructure including servers, tape libraries, and disk arrays.
· Coordinate with vendors on issues with software, hardware, or the interaction between the two.
· Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis of backup infrastructure.
· Develop projects to upgrade existing infrastructure or deploy new systems to increase performance or capacity.
· Respond to and resolve escalated customer-related issues.
· Utilize scripting skills and in-depth knowledge of both Netbackup and Avamar backup software.
· Provide technical advice and direction to Backup Technicians and Backup Administrators.
· Troubleshooting problems in the existing environment
· Development and maintenance of technical documents
· Participation in on-call rotation for 24X7 production support
· Interact with Operations, SA's & DBA's to debug issued.
· Monitoring and maintenance of all backup infrastructure [servers, tape libraries, disk arrays]
· Coordination with vendors on products, issues with software & hardware
· Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
· 5-7+ years' experience in installation and administration of Netbackup in a very large environment consisting 5000+ backup clients
· Good working knowledge of UNIX systems; knowledge in shell scripting will be advantage
· Knowledge of EMC Avamar or a similar data de-duplication technology preferred is a plus
· Good written and oral communication skills
· Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
· Experience with IBM 3584 tape libraries and 3592 drives (including Web specialist)
· Experience EMC Data Domain, 890, 990, 7200
· Experience with Avamar Grids
