Job Title : SQL Server DBA
Location: Detroit, MI
Duration : 6+ Months Contract
Required Skills/Experience:
Self starters that can take loosely defined assignments and drive them to structured work.
Establish backups, maintenance, monitoring, and other daily administration tasks for databases
Schedule events such as integrity checks and database optimization
Perform routine database maintenance (table modification, modifying stored procedures, views, etc.)
Configure SQL Server platform and hardware for optimal security and performance
Create, configure, backup, and recover SQL Server databases
Develop standard database policies and procedures
Evaluate, create, and test backup and recovery strategies and ensure integrity of database backups and restores
Performance tuning and resolving databases performance issues (indexing, data partitioning/clustering, updating statistics
Ability to conceptualize business and technical solutions; ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
Strong background in database design and data modeling.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience working with a broad range of technologies.
Strong design skills in distributed technology including SQL Server 2008, SSIS and SSAS.
Comfortable in a highly dynamic project environment. Effective planning and driving work in an adaptive way.
10+ years of IT experience and computer science
Experience with SQL Server 2008, including use of Query Analyzer, stored procedures, SSIS, Jobs and Profiler
Experience creating and maintaining an extraction, transformation, and loading process from source systems or files into a data warehouse
Ability to extract data from a data warehouse and package according to user needs
Familiarity with managing data in Microsoft Access and Excel
