Duration: 6+ Months
Job description:
Qualifications:
· 4 year Degree preferred
· 4 year of hands-on experience in the installation and configuration for high availability of System Management Tools including:
· IBM Tivoli Network Management software, IBM Tivoli Netcool products (including SNMP, Sitescope, Syslog Probe and event correlation in OMNIBUS, Network Discovery and polling configuration)
· Ability to translate user requirements to technical solutions
· Candidate needs to have strong UNIX shell and/or PERL scripting skills
· Experience building custom automations with OMNIBUS
· Experience building custom polices with Impact
· Experience building custom Dashboards and Tools using OMNIBUS and working with rules
· Comfortable in various platforms like Linux, Solaris, AIX, and Windows
· ITM and ITCAM products ITM for OS, ITCAM for AD, Creating and Troubleshooting Situations, Workspaces, etc.
· ITM monitoring for VM Technology (IBM Power Series), Intel (VMware)
· Experience in building custom reports with TCR (Tivoli common reporting) using Cognos/BIRT
· Ability to apply knowledge of tools to create solutions which are maintainable, follow enterprise standards
· Ability to utilize advanced systems, scripting and developer skills to develop methodologies to implement, integrate, and maintain new and emerging enterprise-wide systems hardware/software technology components.
· 2 years' experience working with network troubleshooting, System designs/mgnt/network mgnt. tools
· Extensive working knowledge of Linux/Wintel/Open Source tools and scripting languages in those environments
· Experience with AIX, HP UX
· ITIL framework certification or experience a plus
· Some travel possible
Primary Responsibilities:
· Responsible for managing the IBM Tivoli Systems Management environment enterprise-wide
· Day to day management of the Tivoli product suite to ensure it is functioning as designed.
· This includes working with various group designated a champions to ensure we maintain 100% visibility of our production environment at all times.
· Stay current with all industry trends/best practices, as well as, new product releases so that we can maintain a proactive 3 year systems management roadmap
· Ensure proper documentation is maintained for all aspects of the Tivoli product suite
· Ensure all third-party monitoring solutions that are integrated into Tivoli are properly documented and functioning as designed.
· Continuously work towards optimizing our automated event correlation capabilities.
· Ensure ITIL complaint framework is maintained with every aspect of our system management platform.
