Teradata DBA 

 

·         Perform support activities in Teradata Development, Certification, and Production environments 

·         Address support activities initiated via Webstars 

·         Insure adherence to LN standards and best practices 

·         Create and maintain UserIDs and profiles 

·         Maintain User and Database security credentials 

·         Perform performance analysis, tuning, and reporting activities 

·         Monitor, maintain and address TASM components 

·         Perform capacity planning, analysis and reporting activities (i.e. monitoring database size, resource utilization, etc) 

·         Define and maintain Multi-level PPI Tables (partitioning). 

·         Perform annual migration of data between multi-temperature environments 

·         Perform Multi-value Compression analysis and maintenance activities. 

·         Perform index analysis and make recommendations 

·         Perform statistics analysis and make recommendations 

·         Able to move objects, data, and tables between systems (Dev, Cert, and Prod) 

·         Able to interface well with Teradata in solving hardware & software issues 

·         Extremely knowledgeable about LANBAR/Archive/Recovery 

·         Have good working knowledgeable of OPC on mainframe 

·         Able to handle, move, and manage large amounts of data between tables and database effectively and efficiently 

·         Very strong SQL tuning and writing skills 

·         Knowledge of starting and stopping DBQL parameters 

·         Knowledge of DBQL data and how to use data to troubleshoot problems, identify problem queries, and measure system performance 

·         Knowledge of Roles and effective ways of organizing Roles to maintain flexible, but effective, access rights 

·         Knowledge of Profiles and use to organize and standardize users 

·         Extensive knowledge of Access rights and what level of access rights are required by users and databases and how to identify and prevent security loop holes 

·         Extensive knowledge of TASM, its purpose, and structure. 

·         Extensive knowledge about statistics collection and the internal storage of statistical data in DBC. Must know how to retrieve and evaluate statistical information and be able to determine suitable and useful statistics. 

·         Basic knowledge of Logical Host Ids and character sets 

·         Extensive knowledge of Viewpoint and how to use its many features to manage Teradata systems. 

·         Be able to effectively read an explain plan and use Visual Explain. 

·         Fully understand all aspects of physical indexes including Primary, Partition Primary, Secondary, and Join indexes. Be able to determine when an index is suitable. 

·         Be fully knowledgeable about Multi-value compression and how to implement and maintain. 

·         Be thoroughly knowledgeable about Teradata hardware and software implementation and the concepts of AMPs and Nodes. 

·         Be very knowledgeable about Latin and Unicode character sets. How to implement, use, and maintain. 

·         Understand AMP Worker TASK and how to avoid Flow Control
