Job Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for performing WebSphere administration of Java / J2EE application environments.
- This candidate will specifically focus on Datagrid administration and would require skills on IBM WebSphere eXtreme Scale (WXS) Datagrid product.
- This candidate will be responsible for Datagrid expansion implementation, Datagrid services API Layer deployment and Grid Provisioning implementation (based on IBM WebSphere MQ publish/subscribe).
- This candidate will also perform infrastructure deployment, performance tuning and proactive monitoring for the DataGrid.
- This candidate will be responsible for installation, configuration and administration of application servers, Webservers, Middleware products that host intranet / internet facing Java / J2EE applications such as Mediastore, Vz Tones, Service Creation Management, and Catalog Management Platform.
- He/She will also provide 24/7 technical support for highly available production and non-production environments. Works as a team member on intermediate to large projects of average to high complexity under the direction and supervision of senior applications staff and management. Periodically leads other applications team members in selected project activities.
- Perform project management activities such as planning, sizing, scheduling including implementation activities for the Middleware and Infrastructure team.
- This candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge while ensuring that standards and procedures are adhered to.
- Responsible for analyzing problems, developing solutions and making decisions that impact projects.
- Ensures systems implementations occur in accordance with established Change Control procedures.
- Performs some technical evaluation of products.
- Responsible for producing high quality deliverables in a timely fashion.
- Must possess excellent analytical skills, problem resolution and troubleshooting skills.
- Successful candidate will work closely with data center, system admin, IT network, firewall and enterprise web-security teams to configure WAS/WXS environments, system patching, WAS upgrades to support enterprise release and new infrastructure setup.
- The candidate should follow all Middleware Administration, Change Control, Release, Incident reporting, Security, and Configuration Management processes, policies, operating plans, and mandates.
- Candidate requires good interpersonal/communication skills as there is constant interaction with other internal and external teams.
- Proactively communicates status reports and issues to manager.
