Job Description:
Looking for a passionate and talented Visual Designer that is experienced designing responsive web applications and can translate sketches and wireframes into elegant, forward-thinking, modern designs.
You will be expected to work independently as well a collaboratively to create visual designs that shape the future direction of customer's products and services. You will be working very closely with the user experience designers to create the designs as well as working closely with developers and QA team to ensure the designs are properly executed. This position reports to the Manager of User Experience.
• Understands design is about solving problems and making things easier for users and not just designing something "cool"
• Designs simple, intuitive and visually stunning interfaces
• Creates an effective visual hierarchy
• Makes busy interfaces look less busy
• Wants to learn and pushes themselves to make each project the best it can be
• Can present and sell their designs
• Is open to new ideas, suggestions and feedback
• Join a growing UX team which focuses on designing the next generation of responsive web applications
• Work with UX designers and product teams to understand existing problems and design solutions
• Translate sketches, wireframes, and interactions into clean, consistent, stunning visual designs that enhances the user experience across web, desktop, tablet and mobile
• Create innovative, pixel perfect screen layouts, scalable icons, simple user interface elements, and clean, model typography
• Utilizing and improve on existing design patterns or creating new patterns when needed
• Communicate design recommendations and rationale to key stakeholders
• Develop mockups and work collaboratively with various stakeholders to refine them
• Stay current on design trends and techniques and share with others
• Work with developers to ensure the product is being developed as per the design
• Present and sell visual designs to product and development teams
• Perform under minimal supervision on significantly complex assignments
• A strong portfolio demonstrating your beautiful responsive website, web application and mobile design work
• College and/or advanced degree(s) in Visual Design
• At least 2+ years professional experience designing outstanding responsive websites
• Expertise in visual design (layout, color and typography)
• Very strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator specifically)
• Self-starting, positive attitude: always asking what you can do next
• Ability to work independently as well as in teams
• Keen eye for details
• Knowledge and experience designing and using grid systems
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Experience working with pattern libraries
• Solid understanding of HTML & CSS
• Experience designing mobile apps for both phones and tablets
• Insurance industry knowledge
• Solid understanding of iOS, Android and HTML design standards
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Familiarity with frameworks such as Bootstrap, Material Design, Kendo UI, and Angular
