Title: Sr. Windows Application Developer

Location: US – Southborough, MA

Duration : 6+ Months

 

General Summary

This Sr. Application Developer will be primarily responsible for enhancing the functionality of our C++ (Qt), Windows-based mission-critical desktop application.  The application communicates to various web services during installation.  There will be the need for collaborating with a small team of Developers (both onshore and offshore), Business Analysts, and QA during all phases of the software development lifecycle. 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Be part of a team that is responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining a mission-critical application.
• Contribute to all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (analysis, design, coding, testing).
• Enhance existing C++ applications to meet business and security requirements of an enterprise application.
• Coordinate with QA team on the development and use of Test Plans (Scripts).
• Work with development and business groups to provide input for Functional and Technical Design documentation.

 

Technical Skills

·         Proficiency in C++/Qt development

·         Proficiency in Object-Oriented software development

·         Strong background in Web Services and technologies including SOAP

·         Strong background with the following tools: VS2005/2008 IDE, Subversion Client (TortoiseSVN)

·         Strong background in Windows 7 and Windows 2003/2008 Server

·         Strong background in Windows Services and the Windows Registry

·         Strong background with client/server applications

·         Strong background in troubleshooting and debugging C++ applications with minimum documentation

·         Familiar with OpenSSL

·         Familiar with Hudson Continuous Integration and Sonatype Nexus

 

Preferred Technical Skills

·         IIS 6.0/7.x

·         MS FTP and SMTP

·         Experience with XML

·         Familiarity with Fortify Static Code Analyzer

 

General Skills

·         Team player who can multitask as well as work independently

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Ability to understand business requirements

·         Ability to quickly adapt to changing requirements

 

Education

·         Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent

 

Experience required

·         5+ years Windows/C++ expertise

·         3+ years of Qt v4 expertise

·         3+ years development with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005/2008
