Mid-Level Linux Engineer
Politico/WJLA is seeking a sharp Linux systems engineer with strong command of Linux operating distributions, particularly CentOS. This is a challenging opportunity that demands technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Politico/WJLA is seeking a sharp Linux systems engineer with strong command of Linux operating distributions, particularly CentOS. This is a challenging opportunity that demands technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
Three to four years of experience in Linux Engineering and Systems Administration.
Extensive experience in the installation, upgrade, configuration, performance tuning and security of Linux operating systems.
Experience with VMware.
Knowledge of Linux system internals (scheduling, memory management), and understanding of data communication protocols focusing on TCP/IP.
Solid knowledge and experience supporting Apache environments.
Knowledge of email servers such as Qmail and Postfix
Scripting in MySQL, PHP, Perl, bash, Python and/or Java is a strong plus.
Experience with Windows also a plus.

Provide the technical expertise to our team in Linux hands-on support.
Work with our Technical Support team as a higher escalation point to enhance and maintain a 24x7 systems operations capability.
Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; create preventative measures and present to management.
Work with the team to manage the processing of incoming support requests ensuring effective and timely resolution of issues. Coordinate with other departments to ensure problems are satisfactorily resolved.
Track and report progress against established milestones, metrics, and deliverables. Anticipate and address preventable issues that could impede progress. .
