We've Urgent requirement with one of our direct client for Senior Software Engineer - job opening, Location - San Jose, CA

 

Title: Senior Software Engineer - Platform, MediaGrid

Job Type: Full-Time Regular

Location: San Jose, CA

 

Description:

Omneon MediaGrid is a scalable high performance shared storage system for storing, sharing and serving media files. Using standard IT hardware and high speed Ethernet networking, MediaGrid is highly scalable and includes a built-in clustered file system designed and tuned for digital media workflows. As we continue to experience growth, we are looking for an excellent Platform Engineer.

 

The Platform Engineer will be responsible for:

• Modifications and enhancements of the Linux OS and kernel for its use as base software for an appliance: System startup/shutdown/installation process; Changes or additions to drivers for storage devices, network devices, hardware and environmental monitoring sensors; Inclusion of external patches into packaged kernel and OS

• Design and development of software, typically as libraries, that interfaces our data path with the kernel and with hardware devices for reliable I/O of data to/from the network, NVRAM, SSDs and other storage devices

• Select products and services that support the architectural direction and leverage existing infrastructure investments.

 

Required Job Skills:

• 5+ years experience and familiarity with the use of Linux as base software for an appliance: the platform supports system startup/shutdown, installation, packaging, non-disruptive software upgrades, hardware monitoring, etc.

• Very good programming skills with significant experience in C/C++ and shell scripting

• Experience with system, kernel and driver programming. Working knowledge of mpt2sas driver is a plus.

• Familiarity with multi-threaded and distributed software and with network protocols

• Familiarity with data structure concepts

• NICE TO HAVE: familiarity with concepts and software for clustered / distributed systems and a good understanding of network storage protocols and concepts
