Job Title: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Tempe, AZ
Duration: Permanent
Summary of Position:
The Senior Network Engineer will serve as a technical contact responsible for network management including network infrastructure availability for several assigned managed hosting customers. Acts as primary point of contact for escalations and troubleshooting of advanced network infrastructure and telecommunication issues. Position involves network design and architectural work as well.
Position Description:
•Take direction from the Operations Manager for scheduling and prioritizing tasks to be accomplished
•Submit time and expense reports to the Operations Manager detailing the number of hours worked, and if applicable, any expenses being charged
•Take direction from Operations Manager with respect to customer specific processes and procedures
•Escalate identified deficiencies in service delivery to Helpdesk Manager and/or Operations Manager as appropriate
•Receive formal review from Operations Manager
•Take direction from the Operations Manager as related to discipline policy, incident management processes, and quality of work
•Take direction on technical delivery design/architecture from Sr. Network Engineer(s)
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Serve as technical contact responsible for network delivery including infrastructure and network
· availability for all network infrastructure both internal to OneNeck and customer infrastructure
· Acts as technical point of contact for escalations and troubleshooting of advanced network infrastructure issues
· Ongoing IT advisor responsible for technical direction of network infrastructure
· Acts as backup to other network engineers
· Intimately involved in new customer migrations and implementations
· Complex troubleshooting of technical network delivery issues
· Policy and procedure enforcement under the best practices established within the managed hosting LOB
· Network Engineers work with their counterparts to troubleshoot advanced network infrastructure issues for all customers
· Network Engineers perform installations, configuration, administration and tuning of many
·
network infrastructure systems (see skills below)
· Network Engineers serve in an advisory role on ongoing improvements and enhancements to customer's network infrastructure
· On-call unless a planned vacation or PTO time has been communicated with their assigned backup
· Log Incident for any unplanned network outage reported by the Monitor System
· Log incident for Maintenance Task and/or Configuration Change being performed in Customer Environment
· Work directly with Customer to resolve reported issues, log all relevant details in the Incident, update their team of any relevant Changes to the environment, resolve and close the Incident or Incidents associated with the issue
· Escalate issues that cannot be resolved by the Network Engineer to the appropriate contact after gathering required details from the Customer
Deliverables:
•Ensure SLA attainment with regard to uptime and availability of the network infrastructure
•ITSM population of IPAM, inventory and other proprietary data related to network infrastructure
•Visios of customer networks
•Monitor and close Incidents
•Any assigned documentation
•Timely submission of T&E reports
Skills Necessary Implementation, configuration and management of the following:
•Routers
•Switches
•Content delivery systems (CDN, CSS, load balancers)
•Firewalls
•Security appliances
•TCP/IP and advanced network management experience
•Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, RIP, IGRP, EIGRP
Education: 4 Year Degree or Equivalent Work Experience
Years of Related Experience 6 years directly related experience
