Role: Enterprise Architect
Location: Herndon VA
Locals highly preferred , non locals okay too .
Length: 6-12 months +

The Enterprise Architect provides strategic direction, thought leadership, and technology leadership to create and ensure that architectures – people, process, and technology – are aligned to effectively enable the business strategy. This position guides the development, support, and ongoing governance of enterprise architecture by using an architectural framework and developing roadmaps that enhance operational efficiency and provide visionary guidance for project solutions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required; other duties may be assigned. • Shapes the design architecture based on strategic business and operating models;
• Develops principles, strategies and frameworks;
• Ensures standards and framework compliance across the enterprise;
• Develops and maintains a strategic vision for the delivery of systems based on key business drivers;
• Guides the development and maintenance of strategic and technology roadmaps;
• Guides the implementation of business aligned strategic technology plans;
• Provides advice and consultancy on strategy to management team;
• Liaises with solutions architects to develop design standards;
• Produces models to describe the artifacts, principles, frameworks and strategy;
• Provides cross project architectural governance that includes identifying relevant strategy, policy and roadmaps;
• Monitors and reports on project compliance and alignment to overall strategy;
• Provides expert consultancy in the development of programs of work and capital budget allocation;
• Liaises with engineers and technology experts to ascertain system functional capacity, constraints and support lifecycles;
• Models and assesses the organizations' baseline architecture.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field AND
• Ten (10) years of experience in development, implementation, or maintenance of large-scale systems across multiple hardware and software platforms AND
• Four (4) or more years of progressively responsible Enterprise Architecture experience OR
• Equivalent combination of education and experience
Certificates and Licenses: The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), Zachman, or equivalent
OTHER REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Experience working in an Agile environment – preferably Scrum
• Demonstrated knowledge of EA frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman or Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF)
• Broad knowledge of business process including disaster recovery, business continuity and risk management
• Ability to produce, manipulate, implement or enhance Enterprise Architecture concepts, roadmaps, principles or effective strategies
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at all levels
• Ability to think laterally and constructively question established process
• Ability to collaborate and interface with all levels of management and staff, including executive team
