Position: Storage & Backup Engineer(SAN)

Location: Plano TX

Duration: 12 mths

 

Responsibilities and Required skills:

 

In this position you are responsible for:

• Installation and configuration of Netbackup software on client servers.

• Upgrade of NetBackup clients from NetBackup 5.1, 6.0 and 6.5 to NetBackup 6.5 and/or 7.1.

• Migration of backups from Legato Networker to NetBackup 6.5.

• Participate in migration of Netbackup clients from tape library environments to new Data Domain infrastructure.

• Storage Lifecycle Policy management in the transformed Netbackup environment

• Support day to day Backup and Recovery operations and troubleshooting as part of Transformation

• Collaboration with other internal teams to support transformation of client backups

• Quality check and Analysis of the Transformed Backup and Recovery infrastructure

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, relevant experience in the banking or financial industry are a plus.

Preference to candidates who have advanced training and certification in Storage & Backup administration (i.e. Netbackup, Data Domain, Oracle ACSLS).

 

Experience and Skills Required:

Primary:

• Possesses a strong understanding of backup and recovery principles and practices

• Proficient in Unix, Red Hat Linux and Windows Server administration and Device Level understanding

• Minimum 3 years experience with Symantec Netbackup 6.x or higher

• Minimum 1 year experience with EMC Data Domain

• Possesses a strong understanding of database and storage technologies

• Technical understanding of Fiber Channel SAN technologies including SAN zoning

• Technical understanding of IP technologies including name resolution, routing and firewalls

Additional:

• Can work independently on assignments or within a team setting

• May required flexible rotation shift scheduling including weekends
