TITLE:FT network performance analyst
JOB DESCRIPTION:
| This opening is for a FT network performance analyst on DC6. A network performance analyst will ensure that the capacity and performance of the enterprise network meets business partner needs by analyzing and reporting on trending data to identify threshold violations, degradation, prolonged spikes, or other key network performance metrics. Network Performance also analyzes networked applications at the protocol level to assess their performance and how they impact the State Farm infrastructure. The overall objective is to ensure the network infrastructure in use at State Farm is properly sized and tuned to provide our business partners with needed capacity and acceptable performance, as agreed upon within the business partners' Service Level Agreements (SLA). Skills and Expertise: · Packet analysis using tools such as OPNET IT Guru, Sniffer, Wireshark · Network fundamentals (Cisco IOS, TCP/IP, OSI model) · State Farm network architecture The primary tasks include: · Participate in performance testing of networked applications to determine if they meet the performance requirements of the customer. · Apply good organization and problem-solving skills. · Apply knowledge in performance monitoring and planning methodologies. · Apply specific expertise in one or more tools (e.g., eHealth, NetQoS,OpNet, Observer/Gigamon, HTTP Watch, and WireShark) · Apply performance tuning experience as it relates to I/O, network/hardware, SQL, and Java specific processes. · Assist in creating and updating performance plans, bridging IT Infrastructure, application optimization, and provide strategic and tactical Business Requirements. · Provide infrastructure performance assessment including complete analysis of perceived performance problems and be able to quantify results. · Apply strong knowledge of Web Based Infrastructures. · Apply working knowledge of database structures, modeling and tools. · Participate in the creation of performance and capacity reports. These reports need to be understandable and meaningful for executive, middle management, and technical audiences. · Experience in both capacity planning and capacity management. · Apply knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies, TCP/IP, and network protocols. · Apply knowledgeable of Service Management/ITIL best practices · Apply Knowledge of project methodology/SDM Competencies: · Communication – Expresses ideas and facts effectively, contributes to open exchange of ideas, and exhibits an understanding of audience needs. · Critical Thinking – The ability to understand an idea, situation, or problem through an in-depth analysis. · Customer Focus – The desire to help or serve the customer and committed to continuous improvement of services.
